Description

• We are looking for Bioinformatics Software Engineers who can work with biologists and software engineers to help us develop the next generation of genetic analysis tools for www.MyFamilyHealth.com. The ideal candidate must have a sound knowledge of biology and an aptitude for working with biological databases such as HapMap and dbSNP.
• Our software development team is into agile development (especially eXtreme Programming) and open source software. We specialize in the Perl programming language and make extensive use of Linux, AJAX, Javascript, Flash/FLEX, Apache and MySQL. We offer an exciting and challenging career at the forefront of two revolutionary technological trends: personalized genomics and Web 2.0.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and maintain internal databases for storing biological information.
• Design and implement processes for the analysis is individual genomic information and its integration into internal databases.
• Synchronize internal data with external databases such as dbSNP, HapMap, new genome assemblies etc.
• Develop software tools and libraries to support internal research.
• Communicate effectively in the design and planning process.

Required Experience

• A strong background in Bioinformatics, Genetics or a related discipline. A PhD in a relevant discipline is a plus.
• Required language(s): English.
• Interest and experience in research.
• Strong programming skills with extensive experience with scripting languages.
• Experience with database design and management in MySQL.
• Web programming experience is a plus.
• Applicants must be willing to work in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
